I calibration of audio systems with a platform 24 octave as part of my work. In your price range, I chose this job for personal use:
1. Yamaha RX-V line of receivers
2. Denon
3. Onkyo
For a beginner - it has are some good opportunities.
Sony - the "ES" series of receivers are very good, but the Sony receiver, hundreds of background and some are characterized as very good.
Denon has a great reputation and I would say that "the best" because the construction of sophisticated quality, and performance in music with high-quality audiophile speakers.
But Onkyo TX-SR series receivers were easy to impress many people and some "best of" and "Editor's Choice" lists last year. No one praises the sound - but the number of features, connectivity and usage at a reasonable price to facilitate, were very impressed by the magazines and the people.
Onkyo try the new Denon and Yamaha, so you can be great value for money with the TX-SR-receiving receptors.
Allow me to decide, as follows:
If you try to build a system of good music and speakers for audiophiles, to seriously consider the Denon unit.
If you have a TV movie, gameing, etc, wMusic is not the main goal of pure audiophile - look at the Onkyo unit.
Stay together away from Sony, Sony Receiver pure garbage. They are cheap construction, low-power, and too expensive. And if you are a beginner with technical equipment, I doubt that you have pre-outs. Pre-outs are used when you connect an external amplifier in conjunction with replacing the receiver's internal amplifier.
Denon and Onkyo are quality brands. I do not agree with the way Onkyo says: "try the new Denon and Yamaha. Onkyo has been around for decades, so I think they know what they do.
You really can not go wrong with Denon or Onkyo. The two receivers have almost the same specifications. The Onkyo may sound a little brighter and the Denon may sound a little "hot". Some people prefer one or the other is a matter of opinion. But they both sound great. I have the Onkyo 606 receiver and I is great. The tone is sharp and detailed. I would probably have the option of cheaper than the Denon Onkyo, so my voice just goes OnkyoBecause of the value. But as I said, you can do no wrong.
I say the Sony. Here's why: First, there may be for sale Crutchfield.com $ 449.99 w / free shipping. He has 4 switching, HDMI and preouts for all channels. I like the flexibility of B / C if you need more power, just a few amps w / S can be replaced with outside the whole unit.
